Teaching Events Management at Bournemouth University she was also a Visiting Lecturer in Public Relations at the Arts University Bournemouth.

My working life started in a Building Society where the emphasis was on customer service, rising in time to Branch Manager. Seeking a change in direction after taking time out to have my two children I worked as a Chairman’s PA for a charity for homeless young people gaining insight into the struggles that charities face with limited budgets.  As I became involved in sourcing external funding, my interest in public relations began, and I gained a Public Relations qualification with the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

In 2000, I began working at Bournemouth University rising to Acting Marketing Manager while studying with the Chartered Institute of Marketing after which I moved to the University PR Department. In 2004, I helped launch a new Government initiative called Aimhigher to raise aspirations and awareness of Higher Education in young people from lower socio economic groups.  I was seconded to the Student’s Union at Bournemouth University where I gained much experience working with student volunteers and outside agencies in the public sector, before returning to Aimhigher, to co-ordinate the Schools & Colleges programme becoming Project Director running a highly successful National Mentoring Scheme.

When Aimhigher came to an end in 2010, I was fortunate enough to be granted funding by UnLtd, the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs, to set up Brilliant Fish PR & Marketing as a social enterprise. My aim; to demystify marketing in a friendly and approachable way for those who need expert guidance and support on a tight budget.

I have taught at Bournemouth University on the BA & MSc Events Management courses since 2014, bringing a practical, business perspective to the student’s academic learning. In 2016, I was a Visiting Lecturer at the Arts University Bournemouth delivering my own Public Relations course.

I’m excited to work with Nicky on The Marketing Menu; bringing the best of our combined skills together in an exciting new venture that allows us to meet new audiences to share our knowledge and experience.
