About Nicky Matthews
Nicky is a hands-on marketer with a no-nonsense approach her career includes sales, corporate business development, personal development training, marketing, and communications. As well as this she has set up and sold a mail order limited company, and chaired a local national award winning children’s charity. It’s said she likes barefoot boogies and yoga on the beach, guess she’s a hippy chick at heart.

My career focus started in hospitality at Portsmouth Polytechnic, during which time I worked for several five-star hotels before joining the world of estate agency working in Battersea in the late eighties during the recession. I moved back into hospitality and into training becoming the first Group Sales and Marketing Manager for Style Conferences, now De Vere Group, where I developed a blue chip portfolio of clients including The Bank of England, British American Tobacco, the Institute of Personnel and Oracle, studying part-time for a Professional Diploma in Marketing with the Chartered Institute of Marketing. In 1996 I had the first of my three gorgeous children and worked as a Business Development Manager for Dale Carnegie Training, facilitating courses with clients such as Berkeley Homes and the McClaren race team!
Moving our growing family back to Hampshire, I set up an online/mail order wooden toy company which I eventually sold, and I chaired a local, national award winning children’s charity. In 2007 I moved into the public sector becoming a Communications Manager for protected rural landscapes. Here I worked on several group brand initiatives, co-managed a bi-annual Woodfair festival which achieved a visiting audience of 7,500 over two days, taught in countless schools as part of a Soil Association project and taught community groups on the art of social media.
Since 2011 I setup Media Box Marketing and have been delighted to work across multiple sectors; professional services, advertising, retail, hospitality, environmental and travel, delivering proactive marketing solutions to growing businesses across the region.
I like to cut through the jargon and complexity often associated with improving online or offline marketing communication. For me, business is about building beneficial relationships and sharing best practice along the way. Marketing is about identifying and providing practical marketing solutions that generate leads, increase sales and enhance business exposure.
